Bob Lee.
Bob Lee Taggert was the three brothers' father's best friend. After Sarge was killed, he
helped the boys in tracking down the perpetrators of their dad's untimely death and
became their surrogate father. Bob Lee, like Sarge, was a Marine gunny who joined
the county Sheriff's Department with him after leaving the Corps in the fifties. In
their time as Marines, Sarge and Bob Lee were both a part of the 11th 155mm Gun
Battalion in the Fleet Marine Force in the Pacific in World War II. In addition, they
served in Korea together. As road sergeants for the Sheriff, the two worked many
cases as partners over the years. In the service to their country, at their jobs,
and as best buddies, the two formed a strong bond as friends and promised to look out
for each other's families should something ever happen to either of the two. After
retiring from the Sheriff's Department, his career interests in Federal government law
enforcement was the next step. Bob Lee rose up the ladder very quickly but in an
unexpected way. He eventually became the White House Liaison for Special Projects,
a virtually unknown agency operating directly under another of Bob Lee's old friends,
Dallas Molton, Vice President of the United States. He was perhaps the least known
member of the Special Project group to the public or members of the government
for good reason. The Special Project group was minimally bankrolled by White House
discretionary funds but were well endowed with access to every source and level of
intelligence and support available to the President's office. Thus, the Boom Brothers
connection.
